A car crash demonstrating the most most dangerous place to drive

London Revealed as The Most Dangerous Place to Drive

Road traffic accidents are extremely common in the UK, and the capital has now been revealed as the most dangerous place to drive.Through analysis of annual car crash data, we have found that London has the highest rate of car collisions per person in the country, underscoring the need for vigilance when driving in the capital.

At Remus Robu Solicitors, we conducted comprehensive analysis to gain a deeper insight into the most accident-prone areas in the UK. We looked at a wide set of data, including car collisions, work accidents, and Google search data, to establish which regions are the most high-risk to live.

Part of our research identified Londoners as being the most likely to be involved in a car crash. As personal injury lawyers many of the clients we represent are involved in car accidents that were not their fault so we wanted to look closer at where you are most likely to be involved in one.

So, let’s take a look at the findings. To establish which place in the UK had the most dangerous drivers, we collected data from the 2022 Reported Road Casualties Great Britain annual report, which detailed the number of car collisions in each UK region over the last 10 years. By cross-referencing the average number of car collisions over the 10 years and the population of each region, we were able to accurately show which regions had the worst drivers.

Key findings

Our data showed that driving in London has the highest risk of an accident of any region, making it by far the most dangerous place to drive in the UK, with over twice the amount of car crashes that occurred in Scotland over the same period.

The South East was found to be the second most dangerous place to drive, which includes the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, and West Sussex.

These results may come as no surprise given London’s heavy traffic and high population density compared to the rest of the country. As personal injury lawyers in London for over two decades, we have found many people in need of representation following a car accident in the city.

The safest place to drive in the UK

While Londoners are the most dangerous on the road, there is good news for drivers in other UK regions.

The safest place to drive with the least amount of collisions per the population was Scotland, followed closely by Wales. This is mostly likely due to the fact of the population being much more widespread, making car crashes less of a risk.

While we looked at car collisions for this data, it’s important to remember that there are many types of road traffic accidents that are eligible for a claim. If you are a cyclist, pedestrian, or a passenger in a vehicle, then you may be eligible to make a road accident claim.

So what happens if you find yourself involved in a car accident that wasn’t your fault?

Making a successful claim

A road traffic accident can have a major impact on your quality of life. It can cause serious injury that can affect you both physically and financially, so it’s important that if you are involved in a road traffic accident that you seek expert legal advice as soon as possible. This will ensure you have the best chance of success when making a claim.

When making a successful road traffic claim, there are three factors that you need to consider:

  • Your injury, whether it be physical, psychological, or both, must be a direct result of the accident.
  • You must make your claim within three years of the road traffic accident.
  • The accident must be caused by the negligence of another party, i.e., another road user.
